I carved this block print after giving birth to my daughter. Matryoshka dolls have long been a folk symbol of motherhood, the continuity of life, and of family in Eastern Europe and Russia. The are a wonderful gift for a new mom or newborn. This piece combines block printing with traditional copper embossing and Armenian ribbon.
